All of God's children were made uniquely by their Creator. It's our job as teachers to build relationship with all of the children placed in our care and to model God's love for them. In this workshop we will discuss some of the "different abilities" of children with special needs, attitudes often held by teachers and classmates, and different ways to meet the needs of these special children and their families. Ministering to Children and Families with Special Needs – General According to pastors.com, one obstacle families with special needs children often face is a lack of acceptance in churches. About 90 percent of special needs families are unchurched. In this session we will discuss some common special needs affecting our children today and create an action plan for the classroom. Many of these special needs can seem hidden, but recognizing possible learning disabilities and special needs can help teachers create a classroom of acceptance for all kids.
